A college football coach was often heard saying, “It’s next man up,” after an injury suffered by a player. He wouldn’t moan for fuss, he just kept moving forward. I like and admire that. But I heard an NFL coach take it one step further. After his Hall of Famer QB was hurt, he said, “It’s next men up.” What that meant was that one of our key players has been hurt, but just one player doesn’t take the brunt of it – the whole team steps up as a unit and works together to ensure its success. That image makes me smile. We’re all in this together. I really like being a part of the team of the human race. There are so many ways to help our team and come together. I think it all starts with seeing each other, not as strangers, but as someone with whom we have something in common. I hope this has given you something to think about today. I’ll be thinking about it as well.
