I would imagine many of us took some time yesterday to count our blessings. People talk about the importance of Gratitude, but, after using a gratitude app for over a year now, I want to pass along some of what I’ve experienced.
The first thing I’ve noticed is increased self-confidence. When I take a minute to look at some of my good qualities instead of always focusing on my bad qualities, I feel better. That doesn’t mean that I’m not still doing my best to improve each and every day, but at least I see that I really do have some good qualities. We all do. Take a minute and think about qualities that you’re grateful you have. Mark them down and think about those once per day. Maybe you could add something to your list now and then.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that focusing on some of your good qualities makes you want to have more. You focus on improvement from a positive viewpoint, not a negative one. It’s so much easier to improve from that place vs. a negative place. Try it.
The next thing I’ve noticed is an inner peace and more acceptance of others. More empathy. When you are operating from a more positive place, it is so much easier to feel an acquiescence for others’ shortcomings. This leads to understanding and even reduced hate. Considering some of what we all read, this is a real plus.
All the above can lead to better relationships with others and even better sleep!
Gratitude: it’s easy, it’s quick, and it’s free. How can you go wrong?
